Ex vivo

Research performed on tissue or cells removed from an organism and studied outside it.

What it means

Ex-vivo models can preserve some tissue characteristics while allowing controlled experimentation.

Research context

This definition is educational. The meaning and relevance of a term still depend on the method, product, batch record or study in which it appears.
